Sustainable Agriculture
Sustainable agriculture integrates three main goals – environmental health, economic profitability and social & economic equity. Stewardship of both natural and human resources is of prime importance with stewardship of human resources including consideration of working and living conditions of laborers, the needs of rural communities and consumer health and safety. Stewardship of our natural resources includes working carefully with water, conserving, filtering & reusing; building our soils without the use of pesticides, nitrates or selenium; using animals to manage the land vs machinery to keep from adding pollutants into our air and limiting use of non-renewable energy sources, especially petroleum.
At 21 Acres, we have the opportunity to demonstrate sustainable both on the farm and within the building by using sustainable systems throughout.
