Kellogg Food & Fitness Initiative
During King County’s two-year planning phase, 21 Acres will provide in-kind support valued up to $30,000 to coordinate with and solicit engagement of regional organization and business leaders as well as to provide research, knowledge, and expertise from our current efforts to develop a regional food distribution system that connects local farm products with local markets, institutions, and consumers. 21 Acres will participate in all community-based processes that support a systems approach to realize the Kellogg Food & Fitness Initiative’s goals, including increasing access to healthy local foods by addressing supply chain issues. Our volunteer programs bringing youth groups to our farm to learn about agriculture provide added benefits of providing youth a space to be physically active through planting, maintenance, cultivation, and land renovation projects. Our work developing the local food system and providing access to our urban farm directly compliment the vision and goals of this bold initiative.
The Co-Conveners for the King County Food and Fitness Initiative are WSU King County Extension and Public Health - Seattle & King County
